Vital Information On A Filter Press

By Sarah Hill

A filter media is a tool used in the separation process. It mainly separates water from mud. A case in point is that of marble factories. They use the filter to separate the mud from the water and they then the recycle the water and use it during the marble cutting process. The article below provides general information on filter press.

Basically, the filters contain two plates covered with filter media. These sifter media create a seal between the two filter plates. There then is the application of enough force to pump the slurry into the hollows formed between the two closed plates. The purpose of the strainer cloth is to allow the filtrate out through the openings of the filter media with withholding the residue.

The pump cannot work the same way forever and there comes a time when it will need to release the waste material stored within itself. The first stop is for the feed pump to stop supplying. The next step is for the pressure holding the seals in place to be released. Once the plates are open, it is up to the force of gravity to pull out the unwanted material.

For people without enough knowledge, it is a common premonition that the strainer usually presses the plates to help in the dewatering process. Contrary to this belief, a strainer press will very rarely move. The only time that movement may be seen is when the plates are depressurized to release the solid material. It also moves while closing up to start a new cycle.

There is nothing more irritating than a machinery that you need to constantly monitor. The main purpose of machines is to minimize human labor. People tend to prefer automated machines as they save on time and are often effective. The sifter media is able to do a lot on it is own including the effort to select cycle times, feed heaviness, cake wideness among other things.

Like every other machinery, strainer media to need maintenance. With the overhead beam design, sifter media do hang from overhead ray just as the name suggests. It is important for the strainer media to be just the right size depending on what kind of work they are subjected to. You may have a small strainer that carries out many batches or a large one that carries out fewer batches but at the end of the day, the output is the same.

Apart from the overhead beam, we have the side ray whose plates are usually supported by beams running along the side of the media. An advantage to having this machinery is that the upfront cost is lower than that of the normal presses. However, unlike the overhead ray, it may be a tad difficult to change the sifter clothes as there are parts to its sides. This calls for the use of automatic wash systems.

With the side ray, the sifter plates are reinforced by ray running on the side of the media. With these, maintenance may not be as easy since it would take a while to get to the plates to change the sifter cloths. With such, an automatic wash system would be the easiest and most suitable form of maintenance. It may also be more affordable.
